Shelley dreamt to become a model. She was mother oft wo children and had recently bought a puppy which she adored and did not like to be parted from.
Shelley had last been seen alive on the night of April 26 2010 after discussing with a passing motorist. She had been addicted to heroin since she was 16. A friend recalls: „A car would go past and I`d say 30 pounds for full sex and the punter would go round the corner to Shelley and she`d do it for 20.“
Shelley, like many others, had a dependent boyfriend, reliant on her to raise money for drugs. They shared a flat in Allerton, a suburb of Bradford. She also had an issue with drinking.
She often sought refuge at the St Pio Friary in Bradford. The Catholic Franciscan friars work in the centre oft he city with those in need. Shelley would drop in to their regular soup kitchens to eat and seek spiritual guidance.
Shelley was murdered by sexbuyer Stephen Shaun Griffiths („The Crossbow Cannibal“, who also murdered Shelley`s best friend Suzanne Blamires and Susan Rushworth. He was a psychology graduate who did postgraduate research in criminology at Bradford University.
Video footage of Griffiths showed Shelley`s naked trussed-up body in hos bath, the words „My Sex Slave“ spray-painted on her back.
